Product Questions
How should I clean my pottery? Is it dishwasher safe?
Its best to clean your pottery with warm sudsy water and a sponge. Most of my work can go in the dishwasher, unless otherwise noted on the piece, but dishwashers are not designed for handmade pottery so be careful when loading it in the racks. If you have a piece that has food stuck on it, please don’t scrub it with something metallic, just soak it in warm soapy water for a little bit.
If you purchase a piece with gold or an opalescent glaze, it is not dishwasher or microwave safe. If you nave any concerns or questions, reach out to me directly at janet@jelodesigns.com.
Is it microwave safe?
Yes, feel free to stick your mug in the microwave to heat up your coffee or tea. The microwave will heat up both the contents of your piece, as well as the pottery so please use proper precautions when taking it out of the microwave. And if you have a piece with a gold or opalescent glaze, it is not safe for the microwave.
Is it safe to store in the refrigerator?
Yes, you can place my pottery in the fridge to store food. But, my pieces are not designed for freezer storage—extreme temperature changes can damage handmade ceramics.
Order Questions
Can I return something if I don’t like it?
Yes, but you will need to pay for shipping and it needs to arrive in one piece, after which I am happy to arrange a return payment.
Can I pick up my order?
If you live in the area around Belmont, Massachusetts, I am happy to arrange a pick-up. Etsy doesn't allow it so reach out directly at janet@jelodesigns.com to work out the details, and I will send you a coupon for Free Shipping.
Do you accept commissions?
I love creating custom pieces when my schedule allows! Feel free to reach out and share what you have in mind. I can’t always accommodate commissions—especially during the busy holiday season—but I’m happy to discuss what might be possible.
How often do you update your online shop?
I am a small batch ceramic artist, and while my goal is to update my shop on a monthly basis, life gets in the way sometimes and it doesn't happen. To learn more about updates, please consider joining my email list, follow me on Instagram or subscribe to my Etsy Shop.
SHIPPING
Why does packaging have shredded paper?
I try to use as much compostable and recyclable shipping materials as possible, which means I shred everything that comes into my home (as well as my families homes) to use more sustainable packaging. I hope you understand.
When are items shipped?
I pack and ship orders via the shipping method you choose on Etsy, and I generally pack them up within a day or two of receiving your order. My shipping profile on Etsy aligns with that frequency. There are times when I know I will not be able to ship as frequently and I will update Etsy to reflect that timeline.
Shipping Costs
Ceramic items are fragile and require lots of packaging, which can be heavy, so its costly to ship them. But this way, when they arrive, its so fun to unbox and see them.
Delivery Issues
If your item is damaged upon delivery, please take several photos of the packaging and damages to your piece and email me at janet @jelodesigns.com within 7 days of your delivery date. This allows me to file a claim with the US Postal Service. Some of the items are one of a kind and cannot be replaced or replicated, and if this is the case, I will issue a full refund. If the item is replaceable, and you would like a replacement, I will work to re-make it as close to the original as I can, but it could take up to 4-6 weeks to complete.
Unfortunately, if your order is marked as delivered and you have not received your package, I cannot refund the cost of your order or shipping charges. JeLO Designs Pottery and the US Postal Service are not responsible for packages that are stolen or otherwise not delivered when they have a "delivered" status.
